The Violent Crime reduction act and us

As most of you will know the latest part of the Violent Crime Reduction (VCR) act is now in force. This brings new restrictions and challenges to anyone who is not a Registered Firearms Dealer (RFD). Currently we are not RFD therefore our capabilities within the law have been reduced. These new restrictions, as applied to us include but may not be limited to the suply of the following parts.

Complete air guns

Pressure bearing airgun parts (Clyinders, pistons, seals)

Trigger assemblies

Barrels

Silencers

For now we cannot supply any of the anove parts. Our RFD status is under review but for now that is the situation.

So what can we still do?

We can still tune smooth and modify your air rifle within the pe existing law. We can fit and tune parts like seals and barrels that you own and send to us for fitting or upgrade. If you need parts they can still be imorted legally by you, the individual.

This is just an overview of the treatment given to every QB rifle we tune 

Economized, all the power, minimum gas use.

The porting and other parameters have been carefully chosen to give full UK legal power (With a small safety margin) with minimal use of propellant making these among the most powerful yet economical QB 7Xs available. This also means that by tuned QB standards QB Tuned rifles are relatively quiet.

 "Full power" QBs leave here delivering up to 11.6 Foot Pounds of muzzle energy at 90 degrees F.

Bolt, receiver and pellet tray polished and lubricated.

The bolt and internals of the receiver are de-burred, polished and lubricated to make the bolt action as smooth, light and comfortable to use as possible. Also the pellet tray and loading port are polished. This further improves the cocking/loading action and causes less wear on the probe seal. All the tiny metal burrs that nick your pellet as it travels through your gun and contribute to inaccuracy and "fliers" are removed as part of the process.

Reduced hammer spring weight with guides.

The hammer spring weight is usually reduced (This is rifle dependent) which both lightens and smooths the action while saving propellant. Spring guides are machined into existing parts or fitted to reduce spring “twang” to levels where it is often totally inaudible. The added bonus is that by reducing the stresses in the action the reliability is improved as well.

Hammer, spring, bore and cocking block polished and lubricated.

By polishing and using the correct lubrication on these parts of the rifle the cocking action is further improved as is the consistency of the hammer strike. This leads to more consistent velocity and therefore even greater accuracy.

Modified transfer port seal for greater reliability 

Trigger tune.

By accurately de-burring and polishing the mating surfaces of the trigger parts and adding or replacing some others, a smoother, lighter more comfortable and predictable trigger has been developed without compromising safety. Trigger parameters for length and weight can be pre-set to customers requirements. (Within reason and safety limits) But always remember:-

"There is no better safety catch than an unloaded gun with an open breech"

All external bare metal blued.

Wherever work has been done on the outside of the rifle the metal will be re blued so there are no unsightly areas of bare metal and it will reduce the possibility of the demon rust gaining a foot hold.

Stock finish

The standard QB wooden stock can be improved almost beyond recognition by correctly cleaning and polishing it. This not only gives a vast improvement in the appearance but helps to protect the wood from the elements. What this treatment will not do is fill or cover any scratches or dents in the wood.

Accuracy and power documentation with every gun.

Every rifle is shipped with documentation showing the characteristics of power, consistency and accuracy for that gun both before and after the work has been completed.

Also included is a tips sheet to help you keep your new rifle looking and shooting the way it should.

CO2 bulk filling options

The standard tune as above but with a conversion to either bulk fill from a large CO2 source or adding the larger CO2 bottle under the barrel. (One or the other, you cant do both at the same time!)

0.25 Upgrade!

Yes! You can now have your QB upgraded to 0.25 calibre with a QB Tune conversion. Superb for light hunting and is an easy (Only one screw) switch back to the .22 barrel for back garden plinking if you wish. Please contact us for information on how to import a .25 barrel blank.

Highly recommended

We suggest that with every QB Tuned rifle you should also purchase a padded hard case. These lightweight, plastic, moulded cases with internal egg box foam padding are lockable splash proof and all but indestructable. It will help to protect your investment for years to come.

Supplied with the mounts correctly fitted to the QB Tuned rifle. They are excellent for the vermin sniper or just carrying your rifle across the fields comfortably.

Left handed bolt

If you shoot left handed why not fit a left hand bolt conversion. It can be used with open sights or with a scope on high mounts. It is under ten minutes work to install on a QB/XS 7x as a retrofit or order it with your new QB Tuned rifle.

Bling

Something for the weekend sir? How about a Brass Bolt handle. With our normal preparation on your  gun these details will turn your QB Tuned rifle into a real eye catcher! For the best in eye candy compliment the brass work with a serious scope and one of our QB Tune silencers as well. Please note that the brass bolt handle is not available in left handed form, sorry.

Most customers know what they want from their rifle, be it a match style stock, a very firm trigger or an especially light cocking action. Whatever your special requirements, please ask.

Important! PLEASE READ!

All rifles are tuned within the UK legal specification for an air rifle that does not require a Fire Arms Certificate. It is your responsibility to ensure that your purchase is legal for you to own where you live. Customers guns sent here for tuning that are found to be illegal or in my opinion, unsafe on initial inspection or testing may be returned to the owner, at the owners cost, with an explanatory letter stating why it is being returned. No other charges will be made. Other than repairs, no valve work is undertaken on the range of QB Tune rifles as firstly, it has not been found to be necessary and it also makes it a little harder for someone to re tune one of these rifles over the legal limit.

Rifles are not for sale to anyone under 18 years of age, proof of age may be required.

We follow a policy of continuous development and improvement, consequently some of the specifications may vary as improvements are made.

Prices for the supply of new QB Tuned QB78 rifles in either .177 or.22 start at £130 plus packing and shipping at cost. Collection from South East Midlands or East Midlands by arrangement. We do not charge a customer collection fee.
